Great Migration safari- a spectacular event

The great migration of wild animals in the Serengeti of Tanzania is the greatest movement of land animals in the world. Every year these animals trek thousands of miles in search of green grass. They start in February in the south eastern part of Serengeti and travel to the west, remain there till mid July. Then they cross the Grumeti River to reach Masai Mara in time for rains and stay there till October or November and again start their return journey to Serengeti in time for calving season in February. Thus they finish their cycle of African Safari migration. Great Migration safari is organized during this season to watch this most spectacular event.

It is advisable to organize the safari around Serengeti in order to watch this event. Serengeti has the largest concentration of animal life. The spectacle of thousands of wild animals and their calves migrating is a breath taking event. This migration is not a constant phenomenon.  This annual migration depends on the rains which are quite unpredictable. The best time to organize a safari to watch this event is between June and August when the animals congregate and prepare to cross the Grumeti River.

Great Migration safari provides tourists a chance to watch this great event.

Safari means a journey on land to Africa undertaken by tourists. At one time it was a trip for game hunting. But now it is a trip into the forests of Africa to observe the wild animals and photograph them. This trip into the wild is associated with a certain type of dressing like khaki clothes, belted bush jackets and slouched hats. The actual meaning of this word is a long journey. An African safari is an exciting journey which brings you into contact with the rich nature and culture of Africa.

Africa is the most populated continent second to Asia. It has 46 countries where we can find the pristine beauty of nature. Throughout the country you find a variety of climates and cultures. Enjoy the game from vantage points in Thorn Tree Safari

The Thorn Tree Safari is a unique safari as it consists of watching game closely perched on high lodges. These lodges are either built on trees or are built on high stilts. Thorn tree as the name suggests consists of a tree with thorns. The trees can be distinguished from other trees by their flat roof tops. Tourists can avail these high perched lodges when going on the Thorn Tree Safari.

These lodges of Thorn Tree Safari are completely built from wood available in the forest. The lounge in the lodges consists of lounges equipped with large windows which give a nice view of the game below. These lodges have roof top balcony overlooking the wilderness below. The dining rooms in these lodges have walls paneled with dark wood which gives a warm feeling. The dining rooms are equipped with communal tables and benches to sit. The bed rooms resemble bird nests as they are small and cozy with small windows.

When going on the Thorn Tree Safari one should not miss The Ark lodge which has been built using the model of Noah’s Ark. This spectacular lodge is situated in the centre of Aberdare National Park. The Aberdare National Park is a strong hold of various wild animals which come there to quench their thirst in the water hole. A lot of wild animals going towards the water hole can be captured on the lens from the high vantage point.

African Safari Holidays are now easy to plan

What is it about African Safari Holidays that sets off a tiny renaissance of rejuvenation in us? It is probably the unconstrained winds and sands and equatorial expanses that allow us to kick back and take pictures – or just kick back and watch the ever-changing landscape as it ripples from sun-up to sun-down. African Safari Holidays combine adventure and pleasure, intrigue and exploration in a never-before proportion. The night skies are as clear we have never seen them from under our city lights and they give a feeling that we are closer, indeed one among, the cosmos. The climate can vary between flaming hot to tingling cold, depending on where you plan to take your African Safari Holidays. What was originally a tour of hunting and poaching; ‘Safari’ is now widely accepted as a holiday on which one has the opportunity of view Africa’s treasures of wildlife and landscape in the form a well-planned and safe expedition.

The cities, towns and tourist attractions of Africa are now well connected and tourist friendly with well appointed hotels, tour-guides who speak our language and facilities that cater to urban needs so that we can stay connected even while on our African Safari Holidays. Vacation packages are now organized well enough to include point-to-point transport, lodges, bed and board on levels of luxury and enough relics to distribute as souvenirs and keepsakes among your friends after you get home.
